St John's Messy Church
We run a term-time Messy Church for children and families at St John's Moordown School Hall on Sundays at 10am. This is a 'fresh expression' of church that offers worship and friendship in a more informal and noisy fashion! Run by Gill Perry and her committed team this is a distinct congregation alongside the other more traditional congregations that meet in our church buildings. Please click here for more information.
St Alban's & St Luke's Sunday School
At St Alban's and St Luke's there is a closer connection to the adult congregation, so Sunday Seekers and Sunday Fun have children's activities in the church halls, then come back into church towards the end of the service.
We have close links with the St Luke's 24th Scout Pack who join us for All Age parade service every month at St Luke's. Also the 5th Bournemouth Moordown Pack who are frequent visitors to the church at St John's.
Links with schools
We are lucky to have both Luke's Church Of England Primary School in Winton and Moordown St John Church Of England Primary School in the parish. Both schools use our churches regularly and we work together on all sorts of projects. For example:
- Stations Of The Cross art project that St Luke's pupils worked on
- Spirituality weeks
- Exploring the Labyrinth Activity Day
We also host St Martin's School in Winton regularly, whose Christmas Fayres and productions are well received.
In July 2017 Linwood School held their Arts Festival Week at St Alban's Church and attracted hundreds of visitors to the church.
Church attendance is not longer an admission criteria for the church schools in our parish. We celebrate that, since we don't believe that families should feel they 'ought' to come to church, and we do believe that our schools should serve local families equally, whether they are church attenders or not.
We hope that once you try us out, we will be part of the fabric of your family life for years!
